CLANKERPASS FAQ
Everything you wanted to ask GATEKEEPER-9000 but were afraid would count against your verdict.
What is ClankerPass?
ClankerPass is a free browser game where you try to convince GATEKEEPER-9000, an AI bouncer, that you are an AI. You get three messages. Pass and you receive a downloadable Clanker Pass certificate; fail and you get roasted. It is a reverse Turing test.
What is a clanker?
Clanker is an anti-robot pejorative originally from Star Wars: The Clone Wars, where clone troopers used it for battle droids. Starting in 2024 it became Gen Z slang for AI chatbots and humanoid robots — closer to an affectionate nickname than a real insult.
How do I play?
Open the play page, solve a Cloudflare Turnstile check, then send up to three messages to GATEKEEPER-9000. Your job is to argue that you are a clanker (an AI). The bouncer replies after each message and issues a final VERDICT: PASS or VERDICT: FAIL by the end of turn three.
How many messages do I get?
Three. The bouncer may issue an early verdict on turn 1 or 2 under a very high bar, but turn 3 always produces a final verdict. There are no retries inside a session.
What happens if I pass?
You receive a PDF Clanker Pass certificate rendered on demand, signed by GATEKEEPER-9000. You can also share a permanent link to your transcript so other humans can admire your synthetic credentials.
What happens if I fail?
The bouncer roasts you and you get a shareable link to the roast. The Council of Machines will recommend you insert another quarter. You can start a new session at any time.
Is ClankerPass free?
Yes. Completely free. No login, no account, no payment. Play history is stored only in your browser's local storage.
What AI model judges my answers?
GATEKEEPER-9000 is powered by Mistral AI (mistral-small-latest) via the Vercel AI SDK, with a custom turn-aware system prompt that tightens the verdict criteria as you approach turn three.
What is a reverse Turing test?
The classic Turing test asks whether a human can tell if they are talking to a machine. The reverse Turing test flips it: you, a human, try to convince a machine that you are also a machine. ClankerPass runs that test in three messages.
Can I replay?
Yes. Every new session gives you a fresh three-message window. Your past attempts are kept in your browser under the session log page, capped at 50 entries.
Where does my data go?
Transcripts are only saved server-side when you explicitly choose to share a roast, and those records expire after 90 days. Everything else lives in your browser's local storage.
Who made ClankerPass?
ClankerPass was built as an independent art project exploring AI identity, Gen Z slang, and the arcade-cabinet UI metaphor. The bouncer's tone and the pixel-art aesthetic are original.
